Re: Driving time from Boise to West Yellowstone Montana Posted: Fri April 13, 2007 03:58 PM UTC
The distance will be about five hundred miles and take about 9-10 hours driving. The landscape along the way is the most interesting and the smallish towns will give a great impression of the Old West.
If you plan the drive in one day you will not have time to stop and see the little treasures along the way. In Idaho, think history, mountains, rivers, wide and wonderful vistas, Native Americans and Lewis & Clark Explorers.
The main towns you'll pass on your way to Yellowstone are Boise, Mountain Home, Twin Falls--along Snake River--Heyburn, Pocatello, Idaho Falls and Rexburg. I'd suggest looking up these towns to see what they offer that would interest you. I'd also suggest stopping in Pocatello for the night and just south of the city there is Fort Hall, near the University, which has a museum and live buffalo, which is one of my favorites.
