Cadiz Travel Forum

Hi All - We are going to be married at the end of June and are finalising our accomodation in Andalucía for our visit in July.

One of the places we will visit is Cadiz, but I feel it might be nicer to stay a small boat trip away in El Puerto De Santa Maria - can anyone confirm this and possibly recommend a beautiful place to stay for a homeymooning couple for two nights in either Cadiz or Santa Maria?

For two nights then perhaps stay in the Parador Hotel in Cádiz and experience the old town and the beach nearby - some nice restaurants. www.parador.es
In Puerto you have one or two potentials such as the Monasterio and the other one owned by the same comapny (JALE) called Duques de Medinacelli http://www.jale.com/dmedinaceli/
Have not stayed in either but Monasterio is slightly closer to the centre and the ferry.
If the weather is nice (which I am sure it will be) you can use the VAPOR boat to cross the Bay of Cadiz

OR there is also a faster catamaran service. Takes you into the Port in old Cadiz and within a few minutes walk of the Cathedral etc.

I am currently here in fabulous Cadiz, and I would agree with the puerto lover's advice the parador is great, and I have stayed there in the past. In fact I think part of the stay there included a trip over on a boat to El Puerto. I don't know about hotels there but it is a lovely place. Make sure you do visit the old town in Cadiz and come and visit the great beach here. There are heaps of restaurants and it is such a fun place. The Parador has a nice pool, the rooms are a bit dated and it is a big place, but it is next to a lovely park etc. If you are wanting easier access to the beach check out a hotel called The Playa Victoria, it is almost on the beach and also has a swimming pool inside and lovely rooms over looking the beach.
Nice places to visit would be Arcos & Ronda.
