Whitsunday Islands Which island is best for a wedding?
Posted: Wed April 11, 2007 12:03 AM UTC
Hi there,
My fiance and I are thinking of getting married on one of the Whitsunday islands but we are having a difficult time choosing WHICH ONE. As much as I would LOVE Hayman Island it is just too expensive. I have been to Hamilton about 10 years ago but apart from that I'm only just going from what I see on websites.
Have any of you been there recently and can offer any comments on what it is like now?
Or, can you suggest any other islands that would be nice for a wedding? (Approx 70 guests altogether)
Thank you for your help.

Hi we were on Hamilton the first week of Sept'06, had a fabulous time. We got a 4 night package for approx $550 per paerson with buffet breakfast included, staying in the Palm Terraces. Contact Harvey World Travel they sold us the package.
We saw a marriage at the Chapel. Rollers and all, I have photo on my Hamilton Island page and many more photos. Hamilton also has the airport and we got cheap Jetstar fares from Brisbane, $70 one way.
Good Luck Mike

A lot would depend on whether the guests are staying and whether you are honeymooning on the island etc. Hamilton has a nice little chapel and they do 2 or 3 wedding each day. It has the capacity to easily cater for 70 people to stay for as long as they like and it also has or did have a floating restaurant which would be nice for the reception. It is also very central and convenient to fly into and you can get daytrips to other islands from there. If you were considering Hayman then you might also want to look at Brampton which isn't nearly as big, busy or commercial as Hamilton. Nice for a wedding and honeymoon. You could have the wedding on one of the islands and then hire a bareboat and cruise around all of the islands as part of your honeymoon. Take a look at www.seastarcruising.com.au I hope that this helps because it really is a beautiful area.

There is a deal called Whitsunday Island Hopping. It is listed in the Queensland, Sunlover, Islands Brochure. It gives you a holiday around several islands ione holiday. Great if you cant decide which one is likely to be for youThey gave me a free call phone number 1800 818 755 or email wish@airlie.net.au

Hi
I have just returned from Long Island and saw 2 weddings there. It is a 20 minute ferry from Airlie Beach. It is a lower key, less expensive island, large national park and beautiful of course.
They have a web site, check it out - regards and all the best.
