Antwerp A day in Antwerp
Posted: Tue April 10, 2007 04:00 AM UTC
Hi,
I will be in Noordwijk, Netherlands on the weekend of 21st April. Am thinking of going to Antwerp for a day visit. Going in the morning and back in the evening.

Anyone can advise how to get to Antwerp from Noordwijk and what can I do in Antwerp?

Thanks a lot.

for Antwerp, have a look at Irisbe's pages.
For train schedules from Leiden to Antwerp, check www.ns.nl (click English link at the top) for trip planner and schedules.

Give us your address in Noordwijk.
There is Noordwijk-Binnen and Noordwijk-aan-Zee.

Or remember how you got to Noordwijk in the first place, if that was by bus :-)

:) thank you Anke+T for the nice recommendation.
It is a pity I am not around that day but it is a Saturday.
In the Central trainstation there is a tourist information box (little cabin) on ground level) You could start buying a little guide with map for 1 euro.
from Central Station you can scroll down the De Keyzerlei and the Meir.
If you like shopping then the theatre area (Lombardenvest; Nationalestraat) is your place to be. You will find more original shops here then the ones at the big Meir (chain shops).
You could spoil yourself with a cup of coffee and a cake in the Bourla theatre Lounge. If the weather is nice, just sit down on one of the many terasses in the sun and watch ppl go buy.
If you like architecture and art, you might want to visit the Cathedral and Carolus Boromeus church, the market square.
If you are not tired yet, you could make a walk to Het Eilandje, with the huge speedy boats and sailboats.
Don't miss the Vlaaikesgang and if you like antiques... go down the Hoogstraat... until it changes in Kloosterstraat.
At Het zand you have the entrance building of the Sint Anna pedestrian tunnel which leads you to left bank from where you have a view over the skyline.
You might want to explore more and head South to Het Zuid.
so much to do :)
and to see.
Enjoy your day!

hi ATLC,
i will be changing my hotel. i will be at oranje hotel in noordwijk (near the beach) for a week and then im changing to holiday inn leiden.

how long is the journey from noordwijk to leiden by cab?

is it easy to catch a cab from leiden train station back to the hotel say around 10pm at night?

i am thinking of joining a day trip tour that starts at dam square. so i will walk back to the amsterdam central station, take the train back to leiden and then take the cab back to the hotel.

what do you think?

Hi touraco,
I just replied extensively to your transportation question in the forum.
You've chosen a great hotel (Oranje hotel).
The holiday inn in Leiden is not anywhere near central to Leiden but it's not far outside the center.
