| Karachi | Moving to Karachi, Pak needs advise Posted: Sun April 8, 2007 06:28 PM UTC
Expat moving on april 15th. Any female perspectives on living and working would be most appreciated. I am non-muslum and need insite as to respectful yet western attire, safety of walking streets by myself (clearly not on empty, dark streets) And anything else you think I should know.
Thank you in advance. |

Please look around, follow the instincts. There's an old saying 'While in Rome Do as Romans do'

As you might know Karachi is a huge city. So it very much depends on which area of Karachi you will be living and working at. There are "modern" areas where it's no problem for women to wear western clothes (as long as the legs are covered) and there are more "conservative" areas where you would attract unwanted attention if you walk around in western clothes.
However I assume that as an expat you will most probably stay at DHA or one of the other "modern" areas.
