Forum Question Posted By: Replies:
Bhutan Itīs forbidden to cut trees?
Posted: Sat April 7, 2007 09:59 PM UTC
A friend of mine told that the King of Bhutan issued a decision: it is forbidden to cut trees.
So, my friend tells me, it would be nice to take a tree to Bhutan as a gift.
Is this true? Iám going to bhutan in 2 weeks. Am I allowed to travel in airports with a little tree? Quarantine?
How is the weather there, this time of year?

See you all in 2 weeks,

I have just returned from Bhutan and I don't know about the King's edict about trees. I saw lots of trees being cut (especially pine trees). I don't think it would be good idea to bring a tree with you. The customs/immigration agents are a little "edgy" with tourists and you wouldn't want to jeopardize your opportunity to visit this country. Weather ranges from 29C in the valleys during the day to 10C in the mountains. If you are trekking bring warm clothing. If you are staying in lodges/hotels a light jacket and fleece vest would be fine. Take insect repellent too.
