Does anyone have any suggestions / routes for someone who has never been to Luxembourg (City) and knows very little about i? I'll arriving by train and will probably walk from the station to the centre (if it is not too far). It's a day trip (about 8 hours in the City).

Luxembourg City is not all that big, stop by the tourism center and they have some self guided walks or the Petrusse Express is a nice way to visit some of the city, it's a tram that takes a little under an hour that starts from the Place de la Constitution down through the Grund via the Petrusse and Alzette Valleys.

Railway station is not far from the center and you can walk by yourself/ on the railway station there is tourit office where you can tak the map and get some info. i was in Luxemburg with a day trip too. I thin I saw all the main attraction over a day :-)

Yes, take that touristic bus! It is a bit of a walk to the interesting center but perfectly doable (if I remember correctly, about 20 minutes or so).
When you come out of the station, you'll find the bus station on your right hand side. If you want to walk, then keep to the right, past the bus station, straight on.
