www.visitlancashire.com/
http://www.lancashire.gov.uk/corporate/lancashire_ These sites will answer lots of your questions and Google will come up with still more. I was born and brought up in Lancashire. It is an amazingly diverse County with rich cultural, sporting and historical interest and most varied scenery. Transport links are good throughout the region and with easy access to north and south Wales, Scotland, the Yorkshire Moors and coast and to London. The major Cities are Manchester & Salford and Liverpool. Lancaster is the County town and there are several smaller units of local administration. Beaches, lakes and mountains are on the doorstep with every possible kind of outdoor activity and a wealth of culture to suit all tastes from classical music and opera to modern pop. The National Health Service is free to British citizens and Residents. Foreign nationals have to pay. ( That includes members of my family born & bred here who have taken US citizenship). You might obtain more info re health on the NHS web site. If you already know in which area you will be based you should be able to get an idea of house prices by googling local estate agents. If you are coming from the US you may find housing expensive. Good Luck!
