Is the current building of The Hague Department Store The Bijenkorf the same as the one I shopped in as a child in the late 1940's?
Does anyone know the year it was built? jp |

Yes and no. It is considered the best example of the so called 'Amsterdam school' of building: the use of flowing brickwork. It was a 'Gesamt' art work, with work from a lot of different artists. In the 60's a lot of the interior decoration were stripped and dumped as garbage - nothing new. Recovered items are very expensiev. Parts of the windows were just covered up and refound. Also, the large space wasn't in the original design.
