Sanya suitability for family with 2 three year olds and advice
Posted: Sun April 1, 2007 06:51 AM UTC
Dear all

we are considering sanya for the chinise may break. we have two three year olds.. we currently live in shanghai and we are orginally from the uk (south wales)

our dilemer is that so far we have been offered 5 star hotels.. this should be adequate facilities etc but normaally if we were in europe we would never stay at 5 star hotels with kids - too posh.. (and the meals too expensive).. so.

can anyone recommend some 3/4 star options and options that would be suitable for kids.?
my son has just learned to swim and underwater., how clear are the seas /beaches and is the water still or does it have waves.. in otherwords will he be able to see fish under the water from the beach without a trip?

HI! Folks:

Most of the international chains are at Yalong Bay - Shangri-La, Hyatt etc. The lesser hotels are gathered around Da Dong Hai Beach though offhand I can't suggest any since I stayed at a hostel.

At both beaches, the beaches are alright. The waves are gentle and generally suitable for kids.

See fish so close to shore? Unfortunately, perhaps not! The beaches are alright; not pristine.

Maybe you'll like to check out Nantian Resort instead? They have spas, jacuzzis and a water pool perfect for kids with water cannons and water slides. There are free buses from Sanya to the resort. (Check my To Do list on my Hainan page)

Just my 2 cents worth.

If you stay at Yalong Bay, Holiday Inn or Horizon Resort might be the cheapest for dining(except the hotels without the beach).
Hyatt,Marriott,Sheraton,Mangrove Tree and Hilton are more expensive.

If you stay at Da Dong Hai, Intime Resort will be a good choice.

You can book a package with buffet breakfast to make your expense less.

I dont' think you can see fish from the beach, that was my experience.

Since you will depart from shanghai, you may compare the package offered by Shanghai Airlines to other agencies.

You may try family room at Horizon Resort.

check out www.sunnysanya.com There is a bed and breakfast with a family room, at a fraction of the cost of other hotels. I believe it includes breakfast. we're also coming from shanghai, and it's where we're staying!
