I have stayed in the Edgewater, but it was a few years ago, so my info might be out-of-date. It was OK, not five-star or anything, but perfectly adequate. My room was large and clean, and near the beach and the pool. There are also some more apartment-like rooms that have cooking facilities, if you want to do self-catering. They have good "island-nights" with entertainment and dancers, although rather touristy. Sorry, I can't remember if you can bring food into Rarotonga, but their regulations are likely to mirror New Zealand's as the Cook Islands used to be an NZ protectorate. Very nice country to visit, BTW!

I've never stayed at the Edgewater but have enjoyed their "happy hour" on MANY occasions. I had a friend stay there a few years ago and although there were some problems with their room, they were quite happy once they were moved. As for taking food into Raro there's generally no problem with packaged food - cereal, coffee, etc. Check out my Raro pages. I've been there about 6 or 7 times sinse 2000 and I love the place. Make sure you check out various beaches on the island as there are some absolutely beautiful, almost deserted places to swim and snorkel.

We visited the Edgewater resort last July for drinks and an Island Night. The dancing and music was very good. The buffet gross.

We did not stay at the hotel. I did not like the buildings: they are unelegant concrete blocks, the loungers and chairs on the beach and around the pool were rather worn. They have a nice beach and wonderful cocktails! The place looked always rather crowded to me. Very kind and helpful staff.
