Disney shuttle buses question Posted: Mon March 26, 2007 05:34 PM UTC
Hi everyone.
Do all the shuttle buses from the hotels go to the main entrance at Disney?
I want to get into both the Disney parks as soon as they open. I don't really want to queue to get in cos there'll be quite some queuing during the day!
Fellow readers recomend CandyCane Inn so we'll be there in August! I've bought the 3 day Disneyland pass which allows one early entry (I don't know how early).
So, do we walk from Candy Cane to Disney Entrance - ie is it quicker than the bus for the early entry?
I've had a look in the Anaheim Transport area but couldn't actually find an answer!
Thanks in advance
Paul

The Candy Cane Inn is a pretty good place to stay. They do have their own shuttle bus. So you do not need to rely on ART(Anaheim Resort Transit). The Candy Cane is about a 10-15 minute walk to the entrance, depending on how fast you walk. So you really don't even need their shuttle, but it is there if you want.
Also, the Early Entry allows you into Disneyland 1 Hour before park opening. It happens about 4 times a week, I beleive the current days are Mon, Tue, Thurs, Sat. When you go in August the Candy Cane will be able to tell you which days of the week they are currently doing it. However, it is not the entire park it is only Fantasyland and some of Tommorowland.
Have Fun.

Anaheim transportation is not the same as a hotel shuttle. Most hotel shuttles will drop you off at the entrance of the park. I don't know about Candy Cane Inn, but it seems to be across the street from the parking lot, which is huge, and though this Inn might not offer a shuttle, walking would only take a few minutes.
Early entry means that you won't have to stand in line to buy your ticket, that is what the lines are about at the entrance.

Sorry, I didn't see the reply from SouthofLA before responding and I defer to that information.

I've been to Disneyland a few times and I have never had to wait more than 2 or 3 min to get into the park. The long lines are to buy tickets before entering and of course for the popular rides inside. If you already have your tickets you can bypass the lines at the ticket counters and pretty much go directly into the park. Once inside, I would recommend going to the back of the park and working forward as most people do the opposite and you will avoid a lot of the crowds that way.

Hi Paul,
The Candy Cane Inn is near the south end of the resort - there are no entrances there, so it would take more than a couple of minutes to walk to the park from CCI. As was originally stated, it would be about a 15 minute walk. The CCI has their own free shuttle for guests, which runs every 30 minutes. It drops you off in the bus area at the main gate, and when you want to go back to your hotel you wait at the same place where you were dropped off. The walk might not be bad in the morning, but you probably won't feel much like making that walk after a long day of trudging around inside the park.
Be sure to check out Disney's website before you go, so you can plan your early entrance day. There are currently 3 days a week that early entrance is offered, and the days vary at different times of the year.
August is a busy time for the parks - you will be queuing a fair bit. Make sure you are at the park as soon as it opens each day to make the most of your time there. The first 2 hours are the quietest time of the day. Also, DCA opens later each day than DL. The last time we were there, we arrived at 8:30 each morning, went into DL and rode Space Mountain, picked up a fast pass for Space Mtn to use later in the day, then went on the Matterhorn, and by then it was usually around 9:30-ish, so we would walk over to DCA & line up to ride Soarin', then we'd pick up a fast pass for Soarin' to use later and then we'd walk over to Tower of Terror. After that, we would decide whether to stay at DCA for part of the day or head back to DL.
I recommend the book "The Unofficial Guide to Disneyland". It is fabulous and has some great plans for allowing you to see everything important in a limited amound of time. Also, while I have never used it, a lot of people swear by Ridemax, especially during the busy summer months. It is a software program that you purchase & use to plan your day at DL. It is supposed to greatly reduce the amount of time you spend queuing for rides, etc.
I hope you have a great time at DL!
