| Santo Domingo | The drive from the Santo Domingo to Punta Cana. Posted: Mon March 26, 2007 02:24 AM UTC
We are planning to fly into (SDQ) Santo Domingo airport and then take a bus to Punta Cana or rent a car. Which would be better, we have 2 kids? What type of car should we rent?
Let me know. Thanks, Adrian |

If you are still reading this:
It depends on what you are going to do.If you are planning to explore yourself , then renting a car sounds great. If you are going to stay in an All Inclusive resort in Punta cana and join the hotels excursions , then there's no reason to rent a car. At the airport there are rental companies , just check the rates.I had rented a Honda automatic and it was great. Have fun!

If you are staying at a resort many have pick-up service at the airport.
You can rent a car but I would not recommend this, especially if you are not familiar with the island and the way Dominicans drive. You can get in more trouble renting a car instead of letting someone else do the driving. If you have an accident you may not be permitted to return back to your home until the matter is settled. There are many wrecks here in this country because the driving is a bit crazy. I very strongly suggest you use a taxi. Let them drive so you can sightsee and not get white knuckled while trying to survive the Dominican roads.
