Naxos Island Buss connections?
Posted: Fri March 23, 2007 05:08 PM UTC
How are the buss connections from Agios Prokopios/Anna to the mountain villages?

I know there are (at least there should be) good connection between Ag. prokopios/Anna - Chora...
But how about the mountains?

It's my understanding that all the busses go to the central "bus lot" which is right next to the ferry quay. Thus you'd take a bus from Prokopios or Anna to the "Bus lot" and switch to a bus going to, for example Filoti or Aspiranthos.

The beach busses go about every half-hour (and take only 10-15 minutes even in May, but the village busses are more set up for the locals... i.e., coming into Naxos town in AM (to work there), back out to villages in PM... and not so much in between. I remember in 2003 getting a bus up to filoti about 9:30, and the earliest back to town was 14:30 (2:30), then 4:45, and maybe a last one at 6:45.

Just past the bus lot, where the causeway begins, is the bus office, which has all the times posted. Good idea to go there on arrival and copy down timetable for mountain destinations that interest you.

Hey, that was very good link!
So the busses seem to go quite often even to the mountains, good thing :)
And the prices aren't so high... I just hope the site is on date :)

Just a note to say that the buses may not always go according to the known schedule.

As already mentioned, most bus will make their way back to the terminal at Naxos Port so this is a transit stop. Make your way to the admin office and just check out the latest revised schedule, if any, so that you don't find yourself stuck in the interior longer than you wish.
