| Zurrieq | Staying in Zurrieq or Mqabba? Posted: Thu March 22, 2007 08:09 PM UTC
Hi there!
I was hoping you might have the time to offer a little advice to a stranger in California. My boyfriend and I are visiting Malta in May and want to stay in an older village with character where we can walk to different places. We will be renting a car to sightsee around the island but would love if we could enjoy the village where we stay on foot. We are trying to decide between two villas, one in Zurrieq and the other in Mqabba. I was wondering if you might be able to let me know any suggestions you might have. |

Personally I would choose Zurrieq...in fact, I wouldn't mind living there! It's a very lovely town, there are some nice walks along the coast, and also the beautiful Blue Grotto where you can swim or take one of the boat rides into the cave itself. Close by there are the temples of Hagar Qim and Mnajdra, and Ghar Lapsi Cave which is great for swimming and diving...you can reach all these on foot. In the town itself you can visit the Xarolla Windmill which was built by the Knights of St John...here you can also see remains of some catacombs. Anyway, I don't think you can go wrong with choosing Zurrieq. Wherever you choose to stay - hope you have a great time in Malta! Anne
