Hi Pieter and ATLC. Many thanks for your replies giving me driections for when we are in Arnhem. You are so very kind. All those memories coming back ATLC. When we are there I will think about you delivering your papers !
Could you tell me how to get to the famous Bridge of Arnhem ? I am sure we will not do it all on the one visit. We will look and decide which we will give priority . We need more time but don't have it. Thanks once again. Sandra x |

You're welcome!
I'm assuming you refer to the famous 'Rijnbrug' from the 1944 Market Garden operation. The bridge is since 1978 called John Frost bridge and a picture of it can be found at http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Afbeelding:John_Frost The John Frost bridge is about 2 km walk from the train station. The general direction, as you can see on PJ's map is southeast and once you reach the river Rijn (Rhine), direction east. For a printable map, go to: http://www.arnhem.nl/sites/userfiles/other/Kaart_binnenstad.pdf You could make that a nice walk by going through the pedestrian area. Suggest: Stationsplein (somewhere top left on the map), to Korenmarkt, Jansstraat, Weverstraat, cross the square at Broerenstraat (admire the Eusebius church), cross Markt (if I remember correctly that's a parking square), Prinsenhof...
