Kuching SOME ADVICE PLEASE
Posted: Thu March 22, 2007 08:53 AM UTC
hello. we have been advised not to hire a motorbike on our visit to kuching. we are going for our first time for 9 days in july. we would really like to hire a motorbike and would like to know if anyone thinks that this is acceptable in this area. we have done this in thailand and have had no worries, and we ride responsibly. also, what are the dress requirements for foreign women in and around kuching? any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Frankly I think it is ok to hire and ride a bike in kuching, esp if you can survive doing it in Thailand, you should be able to survive in Kuching. I think it is acceptable but then again, I would just advise you not to dress too liberally (you know what I mean ?). Just do not draw too much attention and I think it should be ok.

hello. So far as i concerned to hire a motorbike in around Kuching is not that popular, not like in Thailand. Hire a car thats the best solution for you or including a driver to drive you guys around Kuching city. Tour can be arrange.
So much places that you can see or "MUST SEE" in Kuching as you said this is your first time to Kuching. Well,do not hesitate to email me if you need some advise or go to some places around Kuching. Thanks and have a nice there. See you guys in July.

Hey,

I dont see a problem in hiring a motorbike. Like the other post said, if you can do it in Thailand, it shouldn't be a problem in Kuching. Although I'm not sure if there is a place that hires out motorbikes.

As it isn't much more like a touristy places like Phuket or Bali, you will prolly be stared at when you are using the bike tho. :)

There's no dress requirements in Kuching for women. Kuching is such a relax place. Don't worry too much. :)

Let me know if i can help.
