Manila Going to subic bay - north of manila
Posted: Wed March 21, 2007 02:13 PM UTC
HI,
I am coming to subic bay (about 2 hours north of manila as per the website) in april end and although the subic bay airport web site says there are air asia flights from kuala lumpur and dragon air flights from hongkong, I could not find any airlines that fly into subic bay. Does anyone know a way to get to the city directly or will I have to take a bus from manila.

Also ,once in the city, can I rent a motorcycle or a car on a canadian licence. The city traffic rules website would'nt open.

There are no flights to Subic. You have to take a bus from MAnila going to Subic.
Air Asia flies to and from Clark Airport only.
You can only drive if you have international license but if you really want to drive around, you can apply an int'l licesnse at any LTO (Land Transportation Office)

a foreigner on a tourist visa doesnt need to go to LTO in manila to get a international driving liscence.Instead, you should get a international driving liscence from Canada Transportation office and that will entitle you to drive in any country you want to.I have one, and I use it in Manila

If Subic is your primary destination, then I suggest that you fly into Clark instead of Manila as Clark is nearer to Subic. At the airport, there is an Avis car rental (http://www.avis.com.ph/) center. I'm sure you could use your Canadian driver's license so there's no need to get a separate, local one nor even an international one. I've driven in Canada last year using my Philippine license and had no problems with it.

From Clark, just ask for a map on how to go to Subic (it is in Zambales, the next province, not Pampanga) which is just about an hour away.

Hope this helps.
