| Dali | Sanyue Jie worth going to? Posted: Tue March 20, 2007 05:44 AM UTC
I am trying to fit Dali into my itenerary and noticed that Ill be there around the time of the Sanyue jie festival. Is this worth visiting for? It would mean cutting out Kunming or backtracking to Kunming at a later time.
Any suggestions are appreciated!! |

I am not aware of this festival but in relation to Kunming it would not be a major loss to miss out on it. Apart from Stone Forest which is day trip from Kunming (over priced and rather touristy) there isnt a lot to see in Kunming. If you do stay there I recommend Camellia hotel and taking day train to Dali (you can actually get tickets for this at Camellia)though train takes most of day and remmber you arrive at Dali new town not old town.
Time better spent in Dali or Lijiang or Tiger Leaping Gorge if your heading onwards after Dali. Albert
