Karlsruhe Travel Forum

Hello,
We are goning to visit Karlsruhe in the time easter . we have 2 whole days and a half(up to 6 pm ,say)we have plan to visit mainau island one day.Can any body suggest some places nearby that are worth visting? how is the city heidelberg or freiburg? we would like to enjoy the scenic beauty of nature.
what about going to rheinfalls(switzerland)?
And how is black forest?

I have only been in the part of the Black Forest around Freiburg - you can see the photos on my Black Forest and Freiburg pages. We had great weather and could see all the way to the Swiss Alps from the top of Mount Schauinsland just above Freiburg, and also across to France which is more common.

Heidelberg is also a great city even if quite touristy. The castle is fun to visit and it is a very pretty city with lots of photo opportunities and a couple of great breweries in the centre.

Both cities have a student atmosphere.

Thank you for your reply. Can you tell me to visit the black forest which place i sould go? Baden baden or to freiburg? I liked the pictures in your album. but the other pictures i see of freiburg in the internt is not at all scenic. So can you tell me specifically which place I should go to see the black forest?

I've never been to Baden Baden. Freiburg town CENTRE is not that visually attractive once you are away from the cathedral and town gate area so maybe those are the kind of pictures you've seen. However, it makes up for it in way of student atmosphere and so on,

The Black Forest is in both cities as soon as you get out into the countryside. The pictures you saw on my pages are from immediately outside Freiburg.

Can you tell me how wil we reach Schauinsland from freiburg rail station? is there any option for walk through the forest?

You go by tram to a leafy suburb I don't remember the name of. Then catch a cable car up the mountain. People will be able to direct you when you're there as it is very famous.

Heidelberg is really nice. You might want to go and see the castle, and of course the town itself. For its size, Heidelberg has a lot to offer. There are some good bars around if you want to have a drink.

It's one of my favourite places around here. (I'm living pretty close to Heidelberg).
