we are going to kauai in june and would like to know what the best fishing charter would be. we would like to blue marlin fish. we booked with kai bear today but i saw a posting that gave it very bad reviews

I can not advise you 1st hand..but according to the "Ultimate Kauai Guidebook" (2006)by Andrew Doughty(whom I have found to be pretty right-on on my past trip to Kauai), writes;

Deep Sea Fishing-
"Before deciding who to go with, decide if conditions warrent going at all. It maight be calm on one side of the island and rough on another. Current ocean conditions can be obtained by calling 245-6001 for forecast.
Reputable charter companies are:
-Hawaiian Style Fishing @ph 635-7335. a 25' boat-no deck hand-more hands-on (literally). $100.00 half day.
-Anini Fishing Charters @ 828-1285. Fishing off north shore, 32' powercat, 6 people, min. 4, light & med. tackle but will go heavy. $125 1/2 day.

-Kai Bear @652-4556. 38' & 42' Bertram-their motto is, "if you have a nicer boat, I'll pay for your trip". $139 1/2 day, delux 1/2 day $179., Half day private charters $695. out of Nawiliwili.
-True Blue Charters & Ocean Sports @ 246-6333. Fishes off the east shore, specializes in the big stuff. 4 hr trip is $99.; 6hr $139. 4 people min, 10 max on 55' craft. Based out of Nawiliwili."
