Forum Question Posted By: Replies:
Valladolid transportation
Posted: Thu March 15, 2007 10:03 AM UTC
Hi everybody,
I am planning to land in Valladolid airport, are there buses who takes me to the centre of Valladolid? Is it far?
Using public transportation from Valladolid (or directly from the airport if you suggest me not to visit Valladolid town) where can I go? Is Madrid far from there?
What about Vitoria? is it far from Valladolid? How long does it take?

Thanks,
Sergio

There are buses from airport to Valladolid three times a day. Taxi fare is 14 €.
You cand spend one day to visit Valladolid: churches, university, home of Columbus, home of Cervantes. Tapas bars in calle Correos.
Then you can go to Burgos or León, both towns have interesting gothic catedrals.
Tapas bars in Burgos: calle Sombrerería.
Tapas bars in León: barrio Húmedo.

Hi Sergio,

In addition to the urban buses connecting the airport to downtown Valladolid mentioned by Revulgo, there are also buses going all the way to Madrid (2hrs) and Leon. Tickets must be purchased in advanced on www.alsa.es

I do not find Valladolid particularly fascinating. To me, it is rather an ugly sprawling modern city, even though the area around the main square (Plaza Mayor) and the cathedral is kind of cute. Still, the city could not be better located, almost equidistant from some of the most interesting historic cities in central Spain: Leon, Salamanca, Avila, Segovia and Burgos. You could easily base yourself in Valladolid and take day trips to some of these cities. Salamanca and Segovia are absolutely amazing.

Vitoria is quite a long way from Valladolid, about 3hrs by car. Not sure about public transport.

Hope this helps.

From the airport the bus takes about half an hour to get to Valladolid Bus Station (a little bit out of town). It costs 3 euros.

From there take another bus to the centre for less than 1 euro.

Valladolid is OK to spend a day or so in, but there is not really that much of interest there. When I went I stayed the night in Valladolid after flying from London Stansted and went to Salamanca the next afternoon by train.

Alternatively you can go to Madrid directly from Valladolid airport, the bus costs about 15 - 20 euros.

Hope this helps
