Petra Changing money

I plan to go from Eilat to Petra the first week of July after two weeks in Israel. I will have Israeli money to get out of Israel. Where can I buy JD. Are there ATMs at the border? Can I use US dollars in Jordon? Thanking you in advance.

Unless things a great deal you can buy JD at any money exchange shop, bank or postal office in Eilat.

Forget about changing Shekel in Jordan.

Just take USD with you. The Jod is pegged to the USD. The rate is 0.7 JOD = 1USD.

Good luck

People will take USD if you don't have dinars, but much prefer dinars. In addition they will take a commission so better to pay everywhere in dinars if you can.

Me again, im finally going to Jordan... if nothing happens this time...

Im crossing the Aqaba border:
1. Can i change from US dollars to JOD at the Aqaba Border ?
(at the JOrdanian side) I will not have time to change in Eilat.

2. Are there shops (not for clothes and shoes just for local stuff)
around petra and somewhere in Wadi Ram Area ?

Thanks,
S.

Better to change in Aqaba than Eilat if you need Jod.
You can change back before you leave the country.
Souvenir shop in all touristic area.

Njoy your time

I have been in Jordan this passing week and just
wanted to thank everyone for your help.
It was an Amazing trip, really above any expectation.
The beauty can not be described in words, The locals
everywhere (Including the border) were so nice and welcoming !
I was so mad at my self for not doing that years ago...after
all its just here "in the neighborhood" ... but i know i'll be
there again, no doubt about that.

As been said above they definitely prefer to get a JO Dinars
although if you have none you can pay in US $$ as well.
Seems that best place to exchange money is at the Jordanian border.

Thanks and have great trip to all who's on the way to..
