Taiwan Trip from 29/3-12/4
Posted: Sun March 11, 2007 04:30 PM UTC
I've booked jetstar's tickets to taiwan for 2 wks (from 29/3-12/4). Will be staying over at relative's place located near ding xi MRT station.
Read through the forum and realise there are many places to go!! But out of so many.. what are the MUST-GO??
because i'll be there 2 weeks, i'm planning to travel out of taipei as well. any recommendation?
i've only heard that it's a must go to yang ming shan to see the yin hua.. there's this flower festival if i'm not wrong??
would it be a good idea to go for hot spring during this season??
heard that it rains quite a bit during march and april??

HI,

YMS Flower Festival should be over on the 25th march, but the Flowers will still be there. All of it bloomed early this year because of the mild winter we had.
Yes, This is the Hot Spring season here as well. Many resorts have specials.

Wont your relatives be taking you around?? If only for some places, Ask them to take you to Yilan and Miaoli areas. Difficult to travel there by yourself.

Where else did you plan to go?? Any ideas from what you read>>

Strangely enough, It rains heaviest late at night!!

so far the places that i'm planning to go in teipei itself are 101, new york new york, YMS, miramar, xi men ting, wufen pu, dan shui old street, yeh liu

i see that miramar has the ferris wheel which i'm planning to take. both miramar and 101, i heard would be better to go in the evening coz the lightings at night is nice? any recommendations?

seems like taroko is a popular place as well?

is tai chung's liu fu chun or kao hsiung's jan fu sun better choice?

how do i do to the underground shopping place?

relatives already helped us book this ming shu at chiu fen to spend a night there. i heard chiu fen has quite nice scenery.
actually heading to jin men, but due to the weather and unavailability of seats not going any more.

anymore recommendations for nature sight seeing?

relatives will be working, so we'll be travelling alone most of the time. so as for your recommendations to miaoli and yilan, would it be possible to go on public transport? or must i take taxi instead. i heard the cab fares are expensive!!

another query.. i heard that gao tie is a good way of travelling to the other cities. if i want to take it, do i buy the tix online or do i need to go down to buy? do i need to buy in advance?
