Xi'an A-Fang palace
Posted: Sat March 10, 2007 06:03 PM UTC
Hi, this is my first post. I plan to make a trip to Xi'an in June, and I was wondering if anyone had any information regarding the A-Fang palace (or E-pang palace). From what I was able to cull from the internet this place is either a 2000 year old imperial fortress or a tourist trap built in 1995. Can anyone help? This place seems intersting, but I'm not sure if it's worth the admission. Thanks

In my opinion, this place is not worth to visit because the real e-pang palace was destroyed 2000 years ago. You can just see the architecture complex in ancient style, fake. There are many interesting things to do in Xi'an. I'd like to give you a hand.

Hi.
I'm a local who grew up in Xi'an. Now i live in an overseas country. A-Fang palace is said to be the largest and the most luxury palace in Chinese History. it was built more than 2000 years ago. it was intended to be used as the palace for the first-ever emperor.(the empeor who built the terracotta warriors as part of his tomb). However, the palace was destroyed in a fire soon after China was taken over at that time. and the A-Fang Palace in Xi'an now was rebuilt totally. Please take note of that and plan your time wisely. Actually, there are many interesting places in Xi'an for you to explore. Xi'an is definitely a city more than terracotta warriors

Thanks for the reply. (asked this question on lonelyplanet.com, but didn't quite get any meaningful responses) Looks like I'm going to skip out on this one and see the rest of the city..
