Im looking at moving to Whistler for next winter, I reakon the start of October should be early enough, any advice? Any websites anyone can suggest to help me out going there on my own with no idea about where to start?

That should be early enough as I think they start hiring just after our Canadian Thanksgiving........Second week in October. Housing is really expensive up there though and we have heard a lot of horror stories about rental rip-offs, etc. You can read the local paper. Just google The Whistler Question. Are you planning to live there or just be there for the ski season? A House?? or a room?? Good Luck!!
