Sikkim A hidden gem in India.
proberly a two day journey from NJP/Silguri train station to Pelling. I'm British and had to get permits for Sikkim so i stayed in Darjeeling for a few days. But to get a permit for Sikkim i had to go to 2 offices in Darjeeling which is a pain but it is easy. All foregin tourist have to this. But you sound Indian so maybe you don't need a permit if an Indian citizen. The journey from NJP/Silguri train station will take at least 4 hours to Darjeeling depending on traffic and breakdowns along the way. It's all up hill and your be sqeezed into a jeep with other's unless you pay more for a private jeep. Then from Darjeeling it will the same again to Pelling but up and down. Whoever said there was shopping malls in Pelling have got their information wrong. There's nothing in Pelling for shopping it's just a place for tourist to stay in while visiting Pemayangste Monastery. you can walk from one side of pelling in 5 minutes thats how small it is. Traveller's just come to see the monastery the move on to Gangtok or to Darjeeling. hope this information will help you but sorry to say that there's no shopping malls here of any kind. Earthflyer

Peling is definitely not 2 days journey from Siliguri (NJP railway Station). Peling is in West Sikkim and though I have not been there, I am sure its about 4 to 5 Hours from Siliguri.
For Shopping, Gangtok would be an appropriate place.
