| Tehran | Transport from the airport to the city Posted: Fri March 9, 2007 11:09 AM UTC
I will be arriving at the airport (IKIA) at 03:00 and am wondering about transport to the city.
I am assuming that there will be taxis available at that time in the morning, but are there official taxis with meters, pre-paid taxis or do you just take pot-luck with drivers outside the terminal? |

Does that mean there is a kiosk where I pay for taxi and show the voucher to the taxi driver?

hi.this is amir in tehran.
yes there is a kiosk just outside the Tehran Airport international flights terminal entrance (in the parking lot) where you may get a so-called 'pre-paid' airport cab and change some money too (into iranian rials).under no circusmtances accept offers from 'private' illegal cabs who ussually quite aggressively come after naive and unsuspecting tourists to take them to their hotels for lower fares! obviously it is dangerous to go with them and you most likely be ripped off big time as well! you dont speak the language and you are a single british female travelling alone! right? do you see what im saying? so just a get a pre-paid voucher from the Airport Taxi and wait a few minutes for them to call your name.cabs are yellow iranian-made Samands, i think, and their drivers wear uniforms. i lived in the US for many years and im a professional. if you need more help, please let me know. take care, bye

Good Day,
I am a Westerner that travelled there in late 2005 to the new revamped airport in Tehran (Imam Kh airport). Avoid the taxi drivers who approach you outside the terminals and head for the taxi booth which has set prices (I believe about $10 US dollars for the 35 to 40km journey and worth it considring Tehran is huge and you will even get a glimpse of Imam Khomeinis shrine on the way into the city center. You will be fine and they were were very friendly. Cheers john z
