| Maluku Province | Questions about Maluku Posted: Tue March 6, 2007 08:10 PM UTC
Hi everybody,
Next month I'm going to visit South of Moluku and East Nusa Tenggara. I already read some travel books, search informations. Terefore I'm searching some more informations with people who already visit these places to give me some advice, or tell me their experience, where is the most beautiful places (island, beaches, town, nature)and witch places are less interesting... I'm interesting to visit Banda island, Kei island, Aru island, Tanimbar island, Wetar island, Alor island, Sumba island and Flores island. Have you got some other suggestions? One more question: Do it has boat between Aru island and Agats (Papua)? Thank you for the informations |

i've been go 2 flores
i was started from labuhan bajo; must 2 do: visit komodo island n catch a very perfect sunset @ pede beach then ruteng, one of plateau @ flores; it's very cold n nice, there, but b-ware, there was a big land sliding over there, last week continue 2 bajawa, another plateau @ flores; must 2 do: visit some hot springs n traditional houses, over there stop @ ende, 'd capital city of flores; must 2 do: 3 color lake - kelimutu, catch sunset @ ende beach n buy some traditional cloth then maumere, 2nd city @ flores; must 2 do: catch another sunset n sunrise as well, if u'r lucky enough i think, u could catch sunrise abt on june end up @ larantuka; it's a very cultural city, especially christian ceremonies all days i didnt miss 2 chase sunset n sunrise along d'way, since flores has a very beautifull beach view i suggest u 2 add north maluku in ur itenarary, it's very worth, i guarantee, u'll never regret, otherwise, i'll do......^O^ ok, have a great adventure, happy

Hi,
One of the members of Virtual Tourist Lazslo here has very informative pages on Maluku. Here is the link definitely worth looking at, as he has spent a total of one year living in Maluku. http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/2e789/65a/ I think there might be other members who have websites here too on Maluku. Also check out Lonely Planet Thorn Tree Indonesia Forum and do a search for Lazslo and you should find loads of information. Suggest you print off what you find because all the posts on Thorn Tree usually fall off the tree and so very few posts remain there forever. Pamela

The central regional village is Tual at Kei Kecil. With Trigana airways you can get there from Ambon. From Tual you can take boats to Kei Besar, Tanimbar, Aru, Papua and Banda. I don t know if it is possible to go to Babar and Wetar from Tual but I assume that it is because it is the mainport of this region. Banda is interesting for the colonial history. Kei Kecil is a more developed than Kei Besar, Aru and Tanimbar. Kei Besar is the most traditional because the lack of economy. travel is possible when there is a road (and there are some). Take indonesian money with you because there are no banks and ATM's and in the villages electricity is rare . People don't speak english and mostly their own language Bahasa Kai.
