Pakistan Nunt VT Meeting in China? Where?
Posted: Thu August 7, 2003 06:50 AM UTC
Kashgar (Kashi) would be a good place to hold a VT meeting in Xinjiang province, China. Then our friends in Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan could possibly make a short trip to join us. Perhaps we could have a Saturday night party before the Sunday Market.

Its an amazing idea to hold a VT meeting in Kashgar. Me and me VT friends would love to participate in it. But the only issue would be the visa which could be solved if anyone invite us for this meeting.

We'll see the details later. but i welcome you guys to come to Pakistan and give us an oppertunity to be your host. You will love this country even more ! InshAllah.

Best Wishes,
UD from Lahore, Pakistan.

I am so sorry ! this was actually a reply in a swiss form and i mixed both of them :-) hahahaha... please excuse me.

I just wanted to say that these restrictions are enough which are in Islam. You just have to be normal and as a foreigner u may drink alcohol as well but u won't be able to find pork to eat ;-) in Pakistan !

Come here soon,

Have a nice day,
UD from Lahore, Pakistan.

Hey Chinese_Red good to hear that you like Pakistan... as far as saving money is concerned... You don't need much money to travel in pakistan :) do you? i mean cross the border from Khunjerab and you are in Pakistan.... rest the fares are really cheap... Your friends here can act as your host. my personal opinion you really don't need that much money if you coming from china into pakistan.

hi,

sorry for replying late. you are most welcome to Pakistan. It would be pleasure having you in our country. Actually I was in Northern areas of Pakistan with no internet acess so could not get hold of this discussion before.

But i hope Umer has already given you worth information that would help you lot. I guess if you come by road then you might be able to save money but I am afraid that Pak China border closes early for road travel coz of snow.

So welcome to Vt and Pakistan :-)

HI

As far as I know, Pakistan-China border gets closed in winters i guess from 1st September or so coz of heavy snow fall. I am not sure when you will travel to Pakistan so can not say any thing.

People go there by car/jeep in summer so there is no danger as such. Its safe border but only problem is that you should check before leaving for Pakistan if border is still open or not.

Regarding free visa, it might be true because of great friendship of two countries. Well Islamabad is really far away from border. Yeah it must be around 500 km. So for transport you must first check if bvorder is open or not. Coz people go there mostly in summer season. Please check out http://www.tourism.gov.pk
Its official website for tourism in Pakistan. You can ask them about Visa as well as transport. Happy travels and have a great time in Pakistan :-)

Najam from Islamabad

Pakistan Nunt Over land traffic between China and Pakistan
Posted: Fri August 29, 2003 12:21 PM UTC
Just got this information that Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) and Northern Area Transport Corporation (NATCO) are playing regular bus service between Sost (Pakistan) and Taxkurgan (China) for overland traffic between two friendly countries from 1st May till 15th November every year.

One way fare is $ 23 (as far as I know) per person and seats can be booked in advance.

I hope this information would be helpful for you. Happy travels!

Hi. Thanks for message and appreciation. You can see now we have activities going on in Pakistan forum too. The idea of VT meeting in Kashgar is really nice. But I am afraid I would not be able to join you guys. I am leaving for Europe InshAllah in mid of October.

But we can arrange a VT meeting in Islamabad provided that I am in Pakistan by that time. Happy Travels!

Pakistan Nunt VT meet in Islamabad/Kashgar
Posted: Sun September 21, 2003 03:57 AM UTC
Can I propose a VT meet on 13 October in Islamabad instead going by how two of you won't be around?

Another question:
I may end up spending 1st of ramadan along the road from Peshawar to Taxila or smthg. Will all the shops be closed ... can someone give me a rough idea of how things are in NW? Also, are there any mosques that have provision for women in either Islamabad or Peshawar, during Ramzan? Can i break my fast there or what kind of provisions are there?

Hi there Farheen.

I and Umer are InshAllah leaving on 17th October. He will be back after ten days but I would be abroad for one month. So your given date is perfect at least for me.

I guess 13th October would be fine. I shall also ask my VT friend Mona and I hope she would also be joining us.

Now answering your questions about NWFP:

Shops along the road would be open mostly but all hotels would be closed in day time. Hotels are opened near Iftar time. NWFP province has very religious and conservative culture mostly. Every one is expected to respect their culture and values. Especially in Ramdan never eat any thing out side in from of others before Iftar timings. People of NWFP are very friendly and helpful. You should be having any problem. They believe on this quote "Guests are blessing of Almighty Allah".

While talking about Peshawar, I do not think if women are allowed to offer prayer in mosque.

In Islamabad you can offer any prayer in Faisal Mosque in their area reserved for women. Most of my female family relatives offer Tarawih prayers in Faisal Mosque. So no problems at all.

Yeah usually in all Pakistani mosques they make arrangements for breaking fast ( Iftar). So you should not be having any problem about that too.

In case of further questions you are most welcome to e-mail me. Have a nice trip!

Regards,

Najam...
