I'm planning to Bali end March 2007...I will staying Kuta area...anyone staying in Mercure Kuta Hotel? How Bali weather especially March???

Excellent choice.This is the ONLY hotel right on Kutabeach.Other hotels are seperated by the beachroad.

It's an oldish hotel.Oldish interior. But everything is wellkept up and clean.Also in good workingorder.
Pricewise itīs quite great value IMHO.

Itīs location is truly SUPERB. Right next to the shopping center of Kuta.Few minutes walk to matahari shopping center.Close to artmarket.
Right across the street from Hard rock Hotel and Hard rock Cafe.)Nice place to start your nightout. Free live band performances till 10PM.

Downside is the beach.Itīs very busy public beach.

Sorry to make correction to previous posting, but there are mant hotels which have direct beach access in the Kuta area

Bali Garden Hotel, Paradiso, Bali Discovery, to name but a few.

However have to agree with previous posting that the Mercure is a great place to stay, some of the rooms have wonderful sunset views. At the moment we are having big raining, for 3 days now mostly at night, it is cloudy during the day with rain sometimes. Today (March 6th) it is sunny so far in the morning, but later may be rain again. March is still in the rainy season here in Bali, even though it hasn't rained as much as it should have, maybe now we are going to get the rains more often for the next month at least.

hmm these hotels are in Tuban right? For me Kuta is right in front of Kuta Beach. So starting from HRH/MErcure hotel and ending at the legian hotel.

Basically it's all Kuta...but I use the different names to roughly differentiate between the areas. Even though the kuta beach is right next to Tuban area beach...it's very different beach.
Legian is also different because here...the big luxury hotels have direct access to beaches and Seminyak is different again because it's nightlife and restaurants etc.

I love Bali because within easy reach of everything there are all kinds of resorts with there different styles and clientele.

Bali Garden Hotel is in Kuta, and the question from the posting regarded the Kuta Area not exclusively Kuta. I agree Kuta Beach is different fron Tuban, but it only 2 mins walk to the same area from the corner. To be honest it doesnt matter too much, as most visitors to Bali from outside (especially first timers, get confused when we talk about Kuta and Tuban as different places, because they are really all the same place now, very difficult to make the difference, as far as a visitor is concerned.

By the way the weather today March 6th is sunny again (in the morning) yesterday, the rains came again in big style in the afternoon, and into the evening, with some roads flooded. But still warm.
