Hi fellow friends,
I will be going to Sandakan in 2 weeks time and I will be spending about 4days3night there. My main objective is to visit Sepilok Orang Utan sanctuary. But since I have a few days with me, it will be great if someone can recommend places for me to visit and places to stay. My preferences will be jungle or river location that are relatively easy to visit since I am travelling with my wife. Thank you |

I believe 3 nights in Sandakan are too many...
From Sandakan you could go to Gomantong Cave to explore the biggest bird nest caves in Sabah. Then onwards to Sukau by the Kinabatangan River to see proboscis monkeys, birds & other wildlife. You may also go to Seligan (turtle island) for one night.

Hi,
Would like to suggest, afternoon tour by boat across Sandakan Bay to berhala Island where visitors can have a picnic or evening swim. U can also visit Turtle Island Parks, 40km north of Sandakan where marin turtle come ashore to lay eggs. A boat trip to the islands take one to three hours. Other than that U can also visit Gomantong caves, 30km south f Sandakan, where there are milliom swifts live there and these swifts produce bird-nests for medicinal usage. zahaniszakuan http://www.malaysiatravelog.com
