| Bern | A few questions Posted: Mon March 5, 2007 01:42 AM UTC
Hello Bern,
I am coming into town this wednesday. I have a couple of questions. 1. Is there direct train service from Zurich Airport to Bern and if so, whats the website to purchase tickets 2. I know that coo coo clocks where famous in southern germany but I understand you can get these in Bern. Can anyone recommend a place to buy one? 3. Best Chocolate store in town. thanks and I am so looking forward to visiting your wonderful city! Joe |

Hi,
Here is the website for the swiss railways : http://www.sbb.ch/en/index.htm There are direct trains to Bern and some where you have to change in Zurich HB (mainstation). The ride is approx. 1h15 minutes for a direct train. you don't need to purchase your tickets in advance, you can buy them at the train station directly, either at machines or at the counter. No idea for the coocoo clocks, but probably any souvenir shop or big store would sell some. I don't know the chocolate stores in Bern, hopefully someone from Bern can help you! Have a nice trip, Anne

1.) As answerred belowed, you don't need to book a ticket in advance. Just be prepared for high prices. You have straight trains from Zurich Airport to Bern every 30min. Duration: 1h15min.
2.) Bern is not a main tourist site like Interlaken or Zermatt. Therefore it might be rather difficult to find coo coo clocks. I know one shop: It's a small tourist shop next to the Zytglogge Tower. Just walk around the tower and you will find it. 3.) Though, the famous Toblerone is produced in Bern, there is no factory store. Check out Merkur (rather expensive, in railway station and several branches in town), the big Loeb and Coop Department Stores (they have a huge choice of chocolate) or for cheap chocolate go to Migros. have a nice trip, daniel
