Easter Island Ideas for Travel from USA to Chile & Easter Island
Posted: Fri March 2, 2007 11:50 PM UTC
Does anyone have any ideas regarding tour companies in the USA offering tours to Chile combined with an Easter Island experience? We're considering such a trip in the next couple years. If no ideas on tour companies, what's the best way to book such a trip on your own?

Just for a start: the company is from Canada, but you could take a look on their website to get an idea: http://www.gapadventures.com/

Otherwise start reading Chile and Easter Island pages here on VT and you will get '1000' ideas of what to do and see (and perhaps see some other tour companies).

Or book the trip on your own as we did after a lot of research on the internet.
Ours was a part of a RTW trip and we visited Patagonia (Puerto Natales/Punta Arenas), Santiago and Easter Island. The last was the most impressive part of our yourney and I'm sure you will enjoy your stay.

Feel free to ask more info.
happy travels

If you go to Lan Chile's web site, there are often Ofertas (discounts) offered to flights to Rapa Nui, which is the most expensive part of the whole trip. At times you can get a good fare to Rapa Nui from Miami with a stop over in Santiago de Chile. LAN web site also offers various discounts to fly within the country. Once you have your itinerary, you can book them yourself. VT has some good tips to Easter Island/Rapa Nui. If you are in the west coast of the USA, flying to Tahiti and connecting to Rapa Nui is another option but then again you would miss the wonders of Chile. Enjoy planning the trip..

Hi

I agree that Gap Adventures is a good active oriented tour company. Also, you can take a look at tour portals such as affodabletours.com or tours.com. They offer discounted tours from a variety of operators. Visit Chile at www.visit-chile.org is an excellent Chile tourism site. They have a long list of Chilean tour operators engaging in all activities all over the country including for Easter Island.

Latour at Latour.com is a well known and experienced operator. They have an 11 day Chile tour which covers the breadth of the country going to Santiago, Punta Arenas and Torres del Paine National Park and to San Pedro de Atacama. You can add their five day Easter Island package from Santiago later.

Take a look at this intersting space observation in Chile site (in case you are interested) which also has good travel information.

Hi
I just noticed that I didn't provide the url for space observation site that I mentioned. It is www.spaceobs.com/en/index.html.
