Málaga Going to Calahonda, what can you tell me about it?
Posted: Fri March 2, 2007 12:09 AM UTC
Hello, I am going to be in Calahonda for a week at a time share, not finding very much information about this place. Is there a nice beach nearby? I am hoping to find some Spanish Culture, practicar mi segunda idioma, and find some authentic Spanish food. I hear Calahonda is where many Brits come to vacation? I don't plan to have a car so how difficult is it to go to the cities nearby like Marbella? Is there bus service? Any other cities that you can recommend would be appreciated. I am mostly into nature, hiking, like to go to open air markets to buy food vs grocery stores.
Thank you in advance for any and all suggestions.

Hola, David
Certainly, Calahonda is full of Brits,British restaurants,British supermarkets... it´s not exactly the best place to find Spanish culture...
You have buses from there to Fuengirola and Marbella which are towns with a bit more Spanish taske, specially the old parts, but the ideal would be getting a car.
A nice beach nearby would be Cabopino.
Greeeeeeeeeeeeeeat cities to visit would be Ronda,Granada, Sevilla..., Ronda it´s in the area, Granada it´s like 1 and a half hours far, can´t miss the Alhambra, one of the 8 wonders of the world, and Sevilla it´s around 350 kms.In these cities Spanish taste is guaranteed, specially for the absolutelly great tapas.
What timeshare are you coming to?
I hope this is helpful for you, don´t hesitate in asking me if you need more info.(I´m Spanish and live here)
Enjoy!
