Hi,
It's been 3 years since I was last on Ko Samet and it seems like it's really gone upmarket since then. I used to stay at Sai Kaew Villa in May for around 500 Baht for a deluxe fan room without breakfast, does anyone know if this is still possible for a walk in rate. Also are the restaurant/bar prices still the same as they were. I used to love my beach bbq and cheap beer chang at 60 baht a large bottle. I stayed on Koh Samet last year, but arrived there on a Thai holiday and prices were very high, appr. 1200 THB for a fan room (even had to sleep in a tent for one night). After the weekend prices for a fann room dropped to 700-800 THB.
Prices for food and drinks were still fair though. Have a great trip!

Hi I was in Koh Samet a week ago on weekend and Sai Kaew beach was so crowded!! In addition to bijo69 have said, accommodation rate is different between weekday and weekend and long weekend. It's even in higher rate in summer here (March-April) when all the young off for school holidays. I think your walk-in rate is possible if its not in that period I mention. I think food and drinks are about the same price in any period. I love the atmosphere of restaurant by beach, sit on mat, its nice and relaxing. Hope you have a great trip!
