Posted: Wed February 28, 2007 02:41 AM UTC
Hi,

We are travelling there in April 2007.
Can we have some advice on these 2 routes-Simpang Pulai route or Tapah route?
How's the road and which way better for travelling up and which for down?

Thanks

of course the simpang pulai route is preferable to that of tapah... although it is slight longer if you are coming from the south, travelling time is about the same as the sp route is straighter and easier to drive... but if you are coming in from the north, it is obvious to take the sp route...

Assume u r going from SG - Taking the Tapah route save u abt 30~40mins. Tapah route is more winding and challenging compared to SP, and u may come across more lorries blking yr way, so take it easy and slow if you take this route. U can stop to take a break by the waterfall before hitting yr hotel... well.... if u r not tired after te drive. There are also many orang-asli stands along the way selling fruits and veges... very interesting.

Exit to SP route is abt 50km further, however the sceneries along NSH b4 this exit is magnificent. It also depends on where you stay up cameron by the way, e.g, lakeview hotel or strawberry park will be much furter if u take SP.

I recommend taking Tapah if u like to reach up the mountain faster (especially after long drive) and return via SP. On the other hand, if you don't mind a longer than a already long drive, take the SP route, enjoy the sceneries on the way.

Oh, last thing... certain stretches of SP route is wide, however not necessary safer. Take care on yr drive and enjoy!!

SP is better, even if you are coming from the South. Time taken is only slightly longer. Petrol consumption probably not much difference as it takes the car double effort to climb Tapah compared to SP.
