Uae VISA FOR ME
Posted: Wed February 28, 2007 01:35 AM UTC
My fiancee and I are getting married this summer. He was offered a job in Sharjah and will be relocating there this August. We plan on getting married in June or July. I am worried about getting a spousal visa. I am American and he is Lebanese. I know another American whose wife was denied a visa. She was from the Netherlands. This makes me worried. Why would she be denied a visa?

Hi, welcome to VT.

A husband can sponsor his wife once he has his own residence visa, but he must be earning more than AED5,000 a month. There's a lot of bureaucracy involved, attestation of the marriage certificate etc.

None of us will now why your friend couldn't arrange a visa, she will need to ask the Immigration Dept.

You're welcome :-)

I forgot to say that you have to pay for the visa - about AED1,000 if I remember correctly - and if you're here on a visit visa you either have to leave the country and come back in on the residence visa or you can pay for 'visa transfer'. You also have to pay a deposit of AED10,000 which is refundable when you leave the UAE and cancel your visa.
