Hello everyone,
I am attending the Pope's General Audience on Wed. morning during my upcoming trip to Italy. I was wondering if anyone knew if St. Peter's Basilica was open before or during the audience? Any information would be greatly appreciated! Thank you very much! |

Hmmmn, good question..."Basilica: 7 AM to 6 PM (Winter) and 7 AM to 7 PM (Summer) " (the hours that the Basilica is open).
If the audience is in the Audience Hall, I don't see why the Basilica wouldn't be open. However, I have to admit that if the audience is in the Square, I can't see the Swiss Guards letting people get around behind the Pope...well, I guess it depends on how they set the Square up nowadays for the audience. So, I'm not sure...I'm a big help, huh? ;-) Bill

Thanks very much for replying! I did read in one or two places (that I don't remember) that it was closed until after. I suppose that I will wait and see and work around it.
