Air Asia flies to Siem Reap (the closest town to Angkor Wat) from KL, and Bangkok Airways from Bangkok. I don't think there is any train station in Siem Reap but it is accessible by land from Bangkok through buses.

Air Asia (www.airasia.com) is convenient and reliable. It is a Malaysian low cost airline, by booking in advance you may have cheap fares. I have flown to Siem Reap from Kuala Lumpur and it was fine.
By the way, I just checked on their website and, departing from Bangkok, Siem Reap does not show among the destinations available; it may be they have canceled the flight. I havent't recollection either of any train station in Siem Reap. If not with a flight, you shall check out for bus transportation. Note that when I went there in early 2006, the entry visa costed USD 20; keep it in mind. On general remark, bringing US Dollars with you will make your life much easier. Giuseppe

If you can afford it, flying would be your best way. Another way is chartered a car. Do a search in the Cambodia forum, I remember somebody mentioned it. The worst way is by bus, it took me a full day and it was NOT a fun ride at all! But it happened to be the cheapest. Also take a look at talesofasia.com It has very useful info.

Bangkok Air only airlines have direct flight to Siem Reap. It's monapoly & a rip off airline. Flight time is only 00:55 minutes but it's really costly.
If you have time; there is alternative route to go to Angkor Wat by bus or train. By Train: There are two train daily. First trian leave Bangkok @ 05:55 arr. Aranyaprathet @ 11:45. Second train Lv. @ 13:05 Arr. @ 17:35. Fare 48THB (3rd class train only) By Bus: Buses leave Northern Terminal (New Moh Chit Station) everry hour from 04:00am-08:00pm to Aranyaprathet. A journey time is approximately 3.5-4 hours. Crosing Thai border to Poi Pet (Cambodia) clear visa on both points then either hire a taxi (estimated @ US$40-US$50)or joint a taxi, truck (estimated @ US$10) or a bus to Siem Reap (Truck or Bus might take about 5-7 hours. By private taxi is faster; journey time approximately 3.5 to 4 hours (160KM) dusty road & pavroad somepoint is tarmac (30KM) near Siem Reap. Warning! You must be at Poi Pet not later than 13:00 hour otherwise you maybe have to spend overnight in Aranyaprathet or Poi Pet; if does you better consider to stay at the hotel in Aranyaprather instead of a hotel in Poi Pet. Also there are a agent on Khoa San Road who could sell a ticket on bus to Siem Reap. Good luck!!!

Think twice if you want to use Bangkok Air. There is nothing wrong with the airline compay. The point is monapoly & rip off on their airfare.
I flown on Bangkok Air just for their route from Bangkok/Samui/Bangkok because I have no choice. There is alternative route Bangkok to Siem Reap if you have Hanoi, Vietnam on your list. You'll save a lot of money at least 50% on this route on Air Asia. Any more information e-mail me directly then I will give you a full details.

You can not get a train all the way to Siem Reap but you can take a train from Bangkok to Aranya Prathet then take a taxi from Poipet to Siem Reap or vice versa.
Check out the arriving and departing Siem Reap section at www.siemreaprooms.com for great info on this route.
