Pula Travelling to Istria in the Summer
Posted: Sun February 25, 2007 08:16 PM UTC
My sister and I are trying to get to Croatia as part of a summer vacation. We are planning to fly into Pula, but we would like to take a train or bus out, preferrably to a destination in Italy, or the closest nearby city that we could find connecting low-cost flights, but we don't know much about land travel (prices, times, difficulty) in Croatia and would like to know if anyone can help. We also would like to know about the quality of the beaches in Istria, and if there is a place not too far from Pula that we should stay to find clear water and bathing-type beaches. I have heard that Medulin might be a good option. Or are there any other cities in Croatia with good beaches that are easy to get to Italy from? Thanks!

We went to Pula but stayed in Premantura southern point of Istria, then there is a big protected are south of that with beaches, but this was early October so not at all crowded.

Some lowcost carriers fly directly to Pula, among them is Ryanair, from London and Dublin.

The easy way to get from Venice to Pula is to take the fast ferry, if there is not one one the day you want just take the one to the nearest town.

Low cost flights such as easyjet use Marco Polo airport and it costs about a euro on the bus to get into Venice.
