Grenoble Travel Forum

Hy,

I am a student witch is going to study in Grenoble for 4 months. I shall arrive in Grenoble on the 1st of March. I am now packing and I would need a little help. I would like to know what kind of weather shall I be expecting for these 4 months so I could pack the necessary clothes :P !

If you could help me it would be wonderful !

hi ive been here since september and if the weather from september to mid november was anything to go by then its going to be quite hot. I think it starts getting warm from around mid-march, and then it only gets hotter. Grenoble is in a valley between mountains so the hot air jsut kind of sits on the city....it was 30 degrees and horribly hot for september when i arrived...i would bring some light clothes aswell as warmer clothes....but many tshirts i would say!

I studied abroad in Grenoble August '03 to June '04. I was originally only going for 4 months, but it went by so fast I decided to extend for the year. In August, there was a huge heat wave. It was insufferably hot. I'm from California, so the winter was very cold for me. The city doesn't get a ton of snow, but it does get some. I think it does start to warm back up a bit in March, but keep in mind that this is warming up from a cold winter. When I left in June, it was still crisp and cool (not hot at all). I wasn't wearing a ton of layers or my big winter coat, but I was still in my coat just one step down from that.

I just remembered that I was wearing clothes relatively similar in December as I was April to June. I returned from winter break with a big winter coat and I definitely needed it then. You won't see the worst of the winter until January/February. Keep in mind that you are in the mountains and ski season goes through May. It won't get back up to the heat you experienced in September until August. Scarves are your friend no matter what you bring.

I just realized that, in my excitement of find a forum on Grenoble, I didn't check the dates. Too late for you, but maybe it'll help someone else that see it some other time. My picture is winter on campus in Grenoble.
