Visiting Long Beach, CA Mar 24-30...what to wear/what to do/beach

I'll be in Long Beach Mar 24-30, staying at the Hyatt Regency near the beach. I plan to spend time at the beach during the day and go out and have fun in the evenings. What's considered appropriate swimwear on the beach for a young male in good shape? Where is good to go in the evenings? What is the temp likely to be?

swimming trunks or 'board trunks' that goes down 3/4 down to the knee.

Check accuweather.com for better temperature forecasts for that week. It should be around 75 degrees.
