| Manaus | Manaus weather tolerable? Posted: Sat February 17, 2007 02:16 AM UTC
I'm thinking of spending some time in Manaus this summer (May, June and maybe August too). The bjj training in this city is supposed to be amazing.
My main concern is the weather. From what I have read Manaus is supposed to be very hot and humid. I was in Rio last summer and I had no problem but Manaus might be different. |

I've been in Manaus twice, once in February, the other time in May/June. Temperatures were virtually the same on both visits, as was the humidity. It rained a good bit in February, not at all in May/June. You might want to check here:

well in terms of a change, the sun really starts to burn at the end of august with climbing temperatures and a scorching, vertically above your head positioned sun. If you are afraid of heat, I wouldn’t recommend anyone staying in Manaus for fun around September, October and especially November, the hottest months of the year.
Walking around takes too much energy and because Manaus has no wind to bring some needed relief, the heat can be overwhelming. The climate is really quite different in Manaus from Rio, and if you stay there during those months, you might want to check into a place where there is a powerful air-conditioning.
