Lanzhou Travel Forum

I will be coming back from Lhasa by train and will get off at Lanzhou. And am planning to take a train to Zhongwei the same evening. Will this be possible? And if I get in late at night will there be a hotel near the station to checkin? And from Zhongwei/Yinchuan can I get a flight or a train to Taiyuan?
After a day in Pingyao I will head towards Xian. Can this all be possible in about 6 days? Any suggestions?

Lanzhou -- Zhongwei (possible timings for the connection for Lhasa -- Lanzhou):

2) Yes, there'll always be hotels near train stations, it just depends on whether they're up to your requirements or not.
3) There're no direct trains for Zhongwei/Yinchuan -- Taiyuan. Currently there's no direct flight for Zhongwei -- Taiyuan, but there's 1 daily direct flight for Yinchuan -- Taiyuan.

Nothing in your post indicates when you will arrive in Lanzhou so maybe this is too late for you but others may gain from my comments. If you don't like the accomodations near the station, walk straight ahead out of the station and down TianShui Road 10 minutes or take a taxi 5 minutes to Lanzhou University. They have a guest house for visitors, dorm style rooms, about 35 RMB. They also have a Foreign Experts Building which is like a 2-3 star hotel, 150-200 RMB. Students on campus can direct you.
