Train to Aachen (www.bahn.de), express bus to Maastricht (1/2 h, runs twice per hour). It is much faster than doing a detour by train to Maastricht via Heerlen.

Thanks. I tried both things and I didn't get anything cheap at all. The cheapest I got was 78 or so, one way, to Aachen without the bus included. Maastricht was the same price. I never did get a price on the first suggested site. I may be doing something wrong.

Eurolines busses do not serve the Maastricht-Stuttgart route.
Frankfurt am Main to Maastricht is Euro 33 single fare. Stuttgart to Rotterdam is Euro 61 single fare. Better look for a deal with the German railways; they have cheap offers! PJ
