I see that costs for a bus ride from Santiago to Valparaiso range fron $4 to $6 US PP. which buses are best equiped to handle our cruise ship baggage? Do any of the buses go directly to the cruise port?

No, buses leave from the central bus station in Valparaiso and are all equiped to handle your luggage.
(We had - without luggage - Tur Bus and were satisfied with their service) happy travels Jaap
