| Maastricht | Car day trip to Germany Posted: Tue February 13, 2007 01:39 AM UTC
Hello,
I will be staying in Maastricht for a week in September and rented a BMW one day for the purpose of taking a day trip from Maastricht. I want to visit Drielandenpunt and I assume by car is the easiest way and I also want to drive very fast on the Autobahn. Can someone recommend a good long country drive through Germany leaving from Maastricht? Thank you. Dank u vel. |

First a Dutch parking tip for the Drielandenpunt: Park at the Belgium side (for free).
A rhine river tour is the first that comes up for a car trip in Germany. Or visit cities: Aachen, Cologne, Bonn, Dusseldorf. Have to think abouth the car trip some more. PJ

a good long country drive through Germany leaving from Maastricht:
Leave M. on the A79 > A 76 > Aachen > A 4 > Köln > A 3 > perhaps visit Montabaur or Limburg > A 48 > Koblenz > A 61 > A 4 back to Aaachen and Maastricht. One tip about a hidden gem in the Netherlands: after leaving Maastricht visit the St. Gerlachus Church in the small village of Houthem.
