Does anyone have a suggestion for a hotel that would be ideal for viewing the horse race from the balcony of your room?

Unfortunately, I don't know the specific names of any hotels for this purpose. I do know that most of the balconies and windows over the Campo are privately owned homes - some of them are rented out as weekly apartments and such but you'd have to get these for an extended period of time.
In addition, if you are thinking of attending this year either july or August, you will probaly have little luck finding anything available. I am given to understand that people reserve the prime locations for the Palio a year or more in advance. Perhaps you can make friends and find somebody who has a view spot - offer to buy them dinner or bring the wine to the viewing! Good luck - buona fortuna! LL

You must be lucky to find something for this year.
We sell our windows for over 800-1000 Euros. So god luck.
