hi again we will be moving to adalaide inj une hopfully. My husband is a bricklayer he earns good money in england and hope that we can have a good life style when we come over and wondered if any one knows an average bricklayers weekly wage, and if there is plenty of work out there for him. I have been watching a tv show in england about families moving from england to different parts of australia.and during there stay they are given a chance to work for somebody doing there particular trade, and the other day there was a bricklayer and he was told that he could earn $2000 a week is this correct? Any one out there employing good brickies:?

Somebody asked a very similar question not long ago:
http://forum.virtualtourist.com/discussion-220135- You could start searching careerone.com.au for jobs.

I have been told that they earn around $1.50 a brick they lay. try www.seek.com.au as well for jobs or www.jobs.gov.au that will give you an indication of what the stats are for bricklayers

There is an Australian govt. website somewhere that lists jobs and what you would expect to be payed. If you look around the govt sites you will find something, I'm sure.
Wages do vary from state to state .... but not by much. If a layer was to get into a lucrative contract with a team of others it would not suprise me if he could earn $2,000/week overall. But then, he may have to live in a very remote area that was being newly developed for a period of time. Anyway just take things as you find them, there aren't too many out of work brickies in this part of the world. Good luck with your decisions, whatever they may be. John.
